The District Health Board (DHB) pays for the treatment of children under the age of 18 years, as a result of which you may get your children free dental services if they meet the eligibility criteria.
What are the free dental services available to children under 18?

How to get free treatment under 18?
Free dental services are provided to children under 18 as it is funded by the Ministry of Health. Most parents enroll their children for free dental healthcare when their children are about 15 months old, as they are provided with a form of enrollment from Plunket. Child may also be enrolled later on by their parents by calling 0800 TALK TEETH (0800 825 583). Children who are less than 13 years of age may also be enrolled for free dental services through a letter of referral from their respective school nurses.
